It’s time to ring in the New Year. But first, Steve Karlen, Matt Britton, and Robert Colquhoun look back at the highlights—and lowlights—of a year that will go down in history:

  • Increased attacks on pro-lifers--who refused to back down in the face of persecution
  • The 100th abortion facility to go out of business following a 40 Days for Life campaign
  • How Unplanned continues to save lives--nine months after its theatrical release
  • Politicians callously advocating for late-term abortion and infanticide

It was a busy year, and 2020 will be even busier. With the spring campaign starting in just 8 weeks, a Presidential Election, and both pro-life momentum and pro-abortion noise increasing, the next 12 months will be a watershed year in the spiritual battle to end abortion.

Finally, we offer predictions for 2020:

  • Who will win the 2020 Presidential Election?
  • Is this the year Roe v. Wade is overturned?
  • What abortion developments can we expect internationally in 2020?

Listen in for our bold predictions!

Our our Christmas Eve episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Steve Karlen, Robert Colquhoun, and Sue Thayer discuss pro-life prayer and witness in light of the God who became man in the womb of a virgin.

We take a look at the pro-life message from the perspective of:

  • Mary, an expectant, unwed mother
  • Joseph, who refused to turn his back on his bride during her unexpected pregnancy
  • Herod, whose slaughter of innocents prefigures the crisis of abortion
  • The Wise Men, whose search for the God of truth and light resembles the path taken by former abortion workers who become pro-life
  • The shepherds--who, in spite of their lowly societal standing, rejoiced in the redemption won by the Lord

Tune in--and have a Merry Christmas!

We have good news from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: the U.S. abortion rate has dropped—again! In the 47 states that report abortion data to the federal government, the abortion rate fell more than 2 percent. It’s part of a larger trend. Since 2007, the abortion rate is down about 25%.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast Steve Karlen talks with co-host Dr. Haywood Robinson and special guest Dr. Michael New about:

  • What's responsible for the continuing drop in the abortion rate?

  • Are lives really being saved? Or is a shift toward pill-induced abortions artificially decreasing the abortion rate?

  • When it comes to abortion, what direction is public opinion moving?

Not only is Dr. New a leading political scientist and social researcher, but he also leads the 40 Days for Life vigil in Washington, D.C. In addition to offering his expertise breaking down the CDC abortion report, he'll share his lifesaving experiences on the sidewalk in front of the Planned Parenthood facility in the nation's capital.

Mark Cavaliere was a self-described introvert working in a credit union...

...but when he answered the call to lead a 40 Days for Life vigil in his community, God responded by ending abortion in his city--and transforming the Southwest United States. On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Steve Karlen and Sue Thayer talk with Mark about:

  • The impact an ordinary person's "yes" can make

  • How the closure of an abortion facility in one of America's most abortion-friendly states proves the power of prayer

  • The key to keeping prayer warriors engaged--and on the streets--long-term

Mark and his team changed their community from the ground up. Listen in and find out how you can do the same!

When it comes to pro-life activism--or ANY type of service to God--prayer always comes before action...

...but prayer combined with action is an unstoppable force. On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Shawn Carney and Matt Britton talk with Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone about:

  • Why we don't just pray in our churches and homes, but also out on the sidewalks in front of abortion facilities

  • The role of politics in ending abortion--including an update on whether the Trump Administration is keeping its pro-life promises

  • Approaches for activating churches and supporting pastors who stand up for life
Nov 26, 2019

As we head into Thanksgiving, there's never been more to be thankful for. On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Steve Karlen and Sue Thayer share what they're thankful for as we head into the home stretch of 2019:

  • The 100th abortion facility to go out of business...with 4 more that followed

  • More than 1,300 lives saved during the year's 2 campaigns

  • 10 more abortion workers who left their jobs upon converting

  • Unplanned bringing the truth about Planned Parenthood to the masses

  • And much more!

Join us to celebrate God's blessings!

The trauma of abortion can lead a woman into isolation. Sometimes, well-intentioned pastors avoid preaching on the topic to try to not re-traumatize post-abortive women in their congregations.

But that strategy can actually backfire as pastors' silence on the topic of abortion is received a signal that the sin of abortion is unforgiveable.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Shawn Carney and Steve Karlen talk with Ricki Giersch and Catherine Walker about:

  • How breaking the silence of abortion can begin the process of healing for post-abortive women and men

  • Effectively engaging pastors on the topic of abortion--without annoying them

  • Beginning the process of recovery following an abortion.

Abortion is devastating--but healing is possible! For more post-abortion healing information, check out:

Last year at this time, NOBODY foresaw that 2019 would become "The Year of Infanticide." But as we near the end of the year, we've seen states across the United States propose and enact legislation legalizing third-trimester abortion--and even infanticide!

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Shawn Carney, Steve Karlen, and Robert Colquhoun discuss:

  • The desperate circumstances that have led the abortion industry to pursue such extreme abortion legislation

  • Stories of how this this fall's 40 Days for Life campaign kept the pressure on the abortion industry--and how an abortion facility manager confirmed that a 40 Days for Life vigil was hurting business

  • How the rest of the world sees America's abortion laws--among the planet's most liberal

It's been an exciting campaign--and results continue to pour in. Tune in to learn the latest developments in the spiritual battle to end abortion.

China aborts 23 million babies every year.

With forced abortion, forced sterilization, and the targeting of baby girls for abortion, there's nowhere in the world more dangerous for expectant mothers and their babies.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Shawn Carney and Robert Colquhoun talk with human rights activist Reggie Littlejohn about:

  • How China replacing its one-child policy with a two-child policy has NOT meant an end to coercive population control in the country
  • The gender imbalance that's led to men outnumbering women in China by tens of millions
  • How Reggie's network of on-the-ground pro-lifers is saving lives from abortion

China is a troubled country, but YOU can help save lives from abortion--even from half a world away

Recently, Planned Parenthood opened a massive abortion facility in Southern Illinois. Built in secret, the facility is the latest in a series of Planned Parenthood megacenters designed to end human lives on an industrial scale.

While the rollout of these megacenters over the last 15 years is troubling, the facilities reveal the industry's weaknesses. The new Illinois megacenter, for example, is an attempt to maintain market share in the area as the failing St. Louis Planned Parenthood is in danger of closing. And many other abortion monoliths exist because Planned Parenthood--no longer welcome in local communities--is being forced to consolidate.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Shawn Carney, Dr. Haywood Robinson, and Steve Karlen discuss:

  • What abortion megacenters reveal about a crumbling abortion industry

  • Why massive Planned Parenthood buildings can be uniquely vulnerable to peaceful pro-life prayer and activism--in spite of their fortress-like appearance

  • How pro-lifers can respond if a megafacility opens in their community

Tune in and learn how Planned Parenthood's latest strategy can backfire--and actually hasten the end of abortion!

Western governments and nonprofit organizations think Africa has a problem: too many children. That's why BILLIONS of dollars are flowing to the continent with the express purpose of reducing the continent's fertility rate through contraception and abortion.

These efforts are a condescending attempt to recolonize Africa by replacing a culture that treasures children and families with one that prioritizes secular values of economic growth and population control.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Shawn Carney and Robert Colquhoun talk with Culture of Life Africa Founder & President Obianuju Ekeocha about:

  • How African culture is under attack from Western population control advocates

  • Why citizens in Western countries should care about their governments' cynical attempts to promote population control in Africa

  • Obianuju's documentary Strings Attached, which exposes international development policies that require the adoption of abortion and contraception in Africa

We're halfway there! There are 20 days down, 20 to go for the fall 2019 40 Days for Life campaign--and there is a lot of good news to celebrate!

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Shawn Carney, Robert Colquhoun, and Steve Karlen bring you:

  • dramatic audio from a woman who JUST saved a baby in Cincinnati

  • the story of a man who worked in an abortion unit--and now leads a 40 Days for Life campaign

  • a look at why women are so often elated about their babies--just moments after choosing life

Abortion is a heavy topic, but this is an uplifting podcast. Tune in and find out how God can work through YOUR prayers to save a mom and baby just moments away from suffering the horror of abortion.

Oct 8, 2019

Shortly after his death, abortionist Ulrich George Klopfer's wife found remains of more than 2,000 aborted babies in the garage.

It was a disturbing and macabre discovery...but does Klopfer's grotesque handling of the babies he aborted make those abortions any worse than if the babies were burned or thrown away with medical waste?

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Shawn Carney, Matt Britton, and Steve Karlen discuss:

  • Whether the sensational nature of the Klopfer story really matters--and if it does, why?
  • What do cases like this do to set back the abortion industry
  • What 40 Days for Life participants can learn from this story to make their witness more impactful

Tune in and learn what this bizarre case means for abortion where YOU live.

Praying in front of an abortion facility for the first time can be intimidating...but it's actually pretty easy What should a new 40 Days for Life participant expect?

As the fall 40 Days for Life campaign enters its second week, Shawn Carney, Sue Thayer and Steve Karlen talk about what it's like to publicly pray for an end to abortion for the first time:

  • Sue Thayer talks about encountering her former colleagues as she hosted a vigil in front of the Planned Parenthood center where she used to work
  • Steve Karlen recalls how his wife shamed him off to the couch and over to the vigil--and why he kept going ever since
  • Shawn Carney explains why everybody is called to help solve the crisis of abortion--whether or not they have been touched by abortion in their history

With the abortion industry advocating for legal infanticide, this is not the time to sit on the sidelines. Listen to this episode, share it with your loved ones who might be reluctant to join their local 40 Days for Life campaign, and sign yourself up to be part of one of the largest mobilizations of pro-lifers in history!

Recently, presidential candidate and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders told a CNN town hall event that as president, he'd use abortion to combat "overpopulation" and climate change.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we talk with demographer and population expert Dr. Layton Field. We discuss:

  • Is the world overpopulated?
  • How many people can the earth hold?
  • If population control advocates take political power, are we likely to see coercive measures to reduce the number of people on the planet?

Tune in to find the answers to these questions--and more!

The abortion industry talks a lot about "safe, legal abortion."

But just how safe is abortion?

We know it's deadly for the baby. But the moms are being wounded on a routine basis as well.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, 40 Days for Life Director of Medical Affairs and Education and former abortion provider Dr. Haywood Robinson and Outreach Director and former Planned Parenthood manager Sue Thayer join Steve Karlen to discuss:

  • the tragic death of an Ohio woman who died following an abortion at a Northern Ohio facility
  • how Planned Parenthood's use of untrained personnel to perform medical procedures endanges the health and lives of its clients
  • why Planned Parenthood doesn't want an ambulance called--even in the event of a major medical emergency
  • how the abortion industry fudges the numbers to avoid accountability for its botched abortions
  • and much more!

When it comes to the crisis of abortion, the word "culture" is thrown around a lot.

The media calls abortion a "culture war" issue. As pro-lifers, we talk about transforming a "culture of death" to a "culture of life."

But what is culture? And how does culture in the form of literature, music, and other traditions that span the generations impact the spiritual fight to end abortion?

Magdalene College Professor and best-selling writer Anthony Esolen joins this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast.

We discuss:

  • the role of imagination and how forming it with good books and beautiful music and help end abortion
  • how to reclaim culture that's been lost over the last few generations
  • what parents can do to ensure their children remain both Christian and pro-life into their teenage years, college, and beyond
  • what book pro-lifers need to read...and a movie they should watch

The abortion industry was rocked by news that a jury found Planned Parenthood guilty of wrongfully firing a Phoenix-area whistle blower who reported her employer for:

  • repeatedly botching abortions
  • document falsification
  • failing to report the sexual abuse of minors
  • and more!

Former Planned Parenthood Employee of the Year Mayra Rodriguez was awarded a $3 million judgment.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Shawn Carney, Matt Britton, and Sue Thayer discuss:

  • the unbelievable negligence of a Planned Parenthood abortion provider who left baby body parts inside his patients
  • how Planned Parenthood tries to silence former employees
  • whether the Arizona verdict will encourage other abortion workers to dish dirt on Planned Parenthood
  • where Planned Parenthood will come up with $3 million after walking away from tens of millions of Title X tax dollars
Aug 27, 2019

Earlier this year, President Donald Trump gave Planned Parenthood an ultimatum: quit performing abortions or relinquish tens of millions of dollars of family planning funding for services like breast exams, cancer screening, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, and more.

You won't be surprised to hear that Planned Parenthood chose abortion.

After a federal court ruled the president's actions were legal, the abortion giant walked away from a major source of federal funding.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, Shawn Carney, Matt Britton, and Dr. Haywood Robinson discuss

  • What is Title X family planning funding?
  • Where will the tax dollars Planned Parenthood gave up go now?
  • If abortion is--as Planned Parenthood claims--only 3% of the organization's services, why is Planned Parenthood giving up so much money to continue selling it?
Aug 20, 2019

While the United States and Canada allow abortion up to birth, many are surprised to learn that even in secular Europe, most countries prohibit abortion after 12 weeks.

We discuss this--and nine other surprising facts abortion abortion around the world--on this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast.

Shawn Carney, Robert Colquhoun and Steve Karlen discuss:

  • The country that became the first to legalize abortion nearly 100 years ago
  • The secret blueprint used to push the legalization of abortion in Africa
  • Where nearly two thirds of the world's abortions take place
  • How erroneous ideas about the human person result in a particular group of countries having the highest abortion rates in the world...
  • ...and more!

As an NFL star, a husband, and a father of seven children, Benjamin Watson doesn't have a lot of free time.

Nobody would blame him for choosing not to engage the culture on society's most divisive and controversial subject: abortion. But that hasn't stopped the first-round draft pick and Super Bowl champion from speaking up.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, New England Patriots Tight End Benjamin Watson tells Shawn Carney and Steve Karlen about the source of his pro-life convictions, why he sees abortion as a matter of justice, and why his social involvement surprises many people. (They also talk just a little football.)

Don’t miss the second podcast featuring former abortion insiders, Dr. Haywood Robinson and Sue Thayer. In our first installment, we heard how easy it is to get drawn into the abortion industry.

In this second part, you will hear how Dr. Robinson decided to stop doing abortions and begin the healing process. Sue will explain the catalyst that opened her eyes and caused her to speak up about the horrors she had witnessed.

Forgiveness is a process and--although it can seem elusive--God freely extends grace and mercy to all who seek him.

You will hear how Dr. Robinson and Sue met the Lord and came to terms with the atrocities they had been a part of. Finally, learn how you can help bring other workers out of the darkness and into the light.

What’s it like to work in the abortion industry? How do nice people get drawn in? Why would anyone ever want to work there? And how in the world can we help workers get out?

Join 40 Days for Life President Shawn Carney as he talks with former abortion insiders, Dr. Haywood Robinson and Sue Thayer.

Dr. Robinson has long been involved in pro-life work, but that hasn’t always been the case. After medical school, Dr. Robinson was lured into the lucrative abortion industry. Hear the amazing story of how Dr. Robinson fell into enemy hands and began providing abortions.

Sue Thayer was a longtime Planned Parenthood manager and bought into the lie that she was “helping women”. That changed over time as Sue began to see the abortion giant in a new light.

Dr. Robinson and Sue agree that the salary in the abortion industry is a strong impetus for starting work there. But they learned that no amount of money is worth the cost.

In this first of two parts, you will hear their incredible stories of redemption and conversion, proving that no one is out of reach of the love of God.

Just 10 months after being announced as the new president of Planned Parenthood (and eight after taking office), Leana Wen has been fired!

It's a stunning development, and Shawn Carney, former Planned Parenthood manager Sue Thayer (who knows a thing or two about being fired from the abortion empire!), and Steve Karlen are here to break down what it means for the future of both Planned Parenthood and the pro-life movement.

On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we look at:

  • Why Planned Parenthood is searching for its third president in the last 18 months
  • The forbidden word that might have gotten Leana Wen fired
  • Who America's leading abortion provider might hire to try to save its sinking ship
[bctt tweet="#PlannedParenthood President Leana Wen has been fired from the #abortion giant. Tune into this episode of the #40DaysforLife podcast to find out why PP is seeking its third president in the last 18 months. #prolife #prayforlife"]

At first glance, artificial reproductive technologies like in vitro fertilization or surrogacy might seem to be the exact opposite of abortion. Abortion kills children of women or couples who don’t want a baby. IVF provides infertile couples with an opportunity to have a child. That’s a good thing, right?

Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. Artificial reproductive technologies contribute to abortion both directly and indirectly. On this episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we’ll look at:

  • The ways artificial reproductive technologies foster a culture of abortion
  • How to be sensitive to couples who struggle with the cross of infertility while also opposing immoral reproductive techniques
  • Ethical and moral alternatives for couples struggling with infertility
